Why Diets Don’t Work — And What To Do Instead

I spent years chasing the “perfect” body through every trendy diet out there—cutting carbs, skipping meals, obsessing over labels, and feeling like my worth was tied to a number on the scale. Sound familiar?

For a long time, I believed that discipline meant health, and that shrinking myself would somehow lead to happiness. But the more I restricted, the more disconnected I felt—from food, from my body, and honestly, from life.

I would go from highs to lows to short bursts of “discipline” to major binge eating. My world was a whirlwind, an obsession. Until one day I finally surrendered, “Fuck it” I ate whatever I wanted and whenever I wanted, without GUILT. I gained weight, my body was confused and my mind challenged.

Once I let myself enjoy all kind of food. I began to make small changes, I began to learn to love myself. My daily mantra, “If you love yourself you will listen”. It took me 0ver a decade to learn to trust my and its needs.

It took time (and a lot of unlearning), but I eventually realized: it’s not about eating less—it’s about eating better. It’s not about control—it’s about connection.

So why don’t diets work?

Because they teach us to ignore our body’s natural cues.

Because they’re rooted in shame, not empowerment.

Because they ask us to follow rules, instead of trusting ourselves.

Diets create short-term results and long-term confusion. They leave us feeling like we’ve failed—when really, the system has failed us.

What changed everything for me was shifting from rigid rules to sustainable habits and intuitive eating. I started focusing on:

Nourishment, not punishment

Listening to my body, not fighting it

Building habits I could keep for life—not just 30 days

And now, everything feels different. Food isn’t the enemy anymore. My body isn’t something I have to control—it’s something I get to take care of.

This space is about more than food.

It’s about feeling at home in your body again.

It’s about quieting the noise and tuning into yourself.

It’s about redefining health in a way that actually feels good.

If you’ve ever felt lost, too far gone, or tired of the cycle—you’re not alone.

This blog is where we start finding our way back.
